Sustainable Culture Lab
How do we combat the killing of culture - while preserving the people in America?
The Challenge.
What measures can we take to combat ethnocide in America? The Sustainable Culture Lab (SCL) is a cultural think tank dedicated to fighting and bringing attention to ethnocide - the destruction of culture - while preserving the people and promoting the creation of ideal spaces. Caandor introduced and promoted the SCL brand through a comprehensive digital marketing strategy.
A Sustainable Approach
Our responsibility was to create and promote the fresh SCL launch plan, utilizing the latest podcast platform, panel discussions, and a digital/print zine publication. Our strategy demanded a careful equilibrium between imparting knowledge about a new concept (called "ethnocide") and presenting engaging content that integrated seamlessly with the existing marketing approach.

Zine Design
This was a comprehensive project that encompassed the entire design and development process, as well as ongoing campaigns for digital fundraising and content production. It included the creation of a digital & print magazine, an organizational website for The Sustainable Culture Lab, a podcast, and a microsite for The Crime Without a Name book written by the Founder of SCL.
Web Design
A Cultured Website
Utilizing the newly established brand guidelines and visual identity elements discovered during our research, we developed a personalized SCL website and launch strategy. This involved designing custom graphics, illustrations, and other elements to create a flawless digital experience. The site was paired with a robust fundraising CRM that would improve fundraising efforts, raise awareness, and educate audiences about "ethnocide." We ensured that all content was easily understandable and seamlessly integrated with the existing marketing approach.
The Crime Without a Name
To help bridge the gap, SCL founder Barrett Holmes Pitner published his debut book, titled "The Crime Without A Name", which delves into the concept of "ethnocide", a central mission of his organization. To promote the book's launch, we designed a custom website that serves as a one-stop hub for press, news, videos, resources, and purchasing options. The campaign and book have been nationally recognized, including NPR's Best Pick of 2021, and featured in esteemed publications such as the Washington Post, George Washington University, BBC, and The Daily Beast.
